Tasting Seminars:

Four seminars will be given during each Get Real Belgian Beer Festival Session:

  • 3:30 & 8:30 pm:  Homebrewing Belgian-Style – This is your chance to learn what it takes to brew your very own beer.  We’ll explore ingredients and techniques with a special emphasis on brewing Belgian-style beers in tight spaces.  Some of the area’s best local homebrewers will pour their Belgian-style beer and be available to answer all of your questions.
  • 4:00 & 9:00 pm:  Belgian Beer 101 – Discover your way around wits, saisons and dubbels during this seminar.  We’ll cover the history and traditional styles of beer brewed in Belgian while tasting some of the finest brews from the festival.
  • 4:30 pm & 9:30 pm:  Beer & Food Pairing – Belgian beer styles are some of the best for pairing with your favorite foods.  Learn the basics of matching beer with food, with a special emphasis on chocolate, cheese and Belgian specialty dishes.  You’ll get some pairing practice as you nosh and sip your way through this seminar.  Sponsored by Godiva Chocolatier and Grand-Place.
  • 5:00 pm & 10:00 pm:  Battle of the Beer:  Belgian vs American-made Belgian-style – The Belgians have been making fantastic beer for hundreds of years but American brewers have come on strong in the last decade, especially in interpreting Belgian styles.  We’ll taste traditional Belgian styles and American-made versions side-by-side while discussing the evolution and current trends in brewing.  Professional brewers will also be stopping by to discuss their beers and answer questions.

All tasting seminars will take place on the lower-level stage.
